The Song Of the Lord
Youth & Arts Pastor Curtis Alexander
What is the Song Of The Lord?
See 2Ch 29:27,30 (KJV) for the full verse- And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel...
Psa 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
How do we know The Lord wants new, fresh music from us today, not only the old?
Psa 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
Isa 42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
Psa 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
“NEW” H2319 חדשׁ “khaw-dawsh'” From H2318; new: - fresh, new thing.
H2318 חדשׁ “khaw-dash'” A primitive root; to be new; causatively to rebuild: - renew, repair.
See 2Sa 6:14 -15, 17 And David danced before the LORD with all his might...with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet... And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it...
See Act 15:13 -17 ...I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, ...
The Tabernacle of David is the simple tent King David used to restore and renew worship in Israel. The presence of the Lord was there, because of the Ark of the Covenant. God wants to build that kind of worship again today!
Who Should Sing and Create New Spontaneous Songs?
See Eph 1:1 for full verse- Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God... to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Jas 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
How Do We Sing New Spontaneous Songs?
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
See Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things:...
See Jer 31:31-34 for whole Passage- Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel ... I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people ... for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them
Holy Spirit Helps us worship ROM 8:26; 1COR 14:15- sing with both Spirit and mind;
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
1Co 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Your Singing in the Spirit is unscripted & spontaneous: see Jesus' words about the Spirit in JOHN 3:8 – You don't know where the Spiritual song of the Lord is going- it is like the wind!
Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
This means singing unwritten songs in the Spirit spontaneously goes beyond our understanding and is a higher form of worship than singing written hymns and songs.
Sing a New Song to The Lord from your New Covenant-written Heart! Sing in the Holy Ghost AND with your understanding. GO beyond your understanding and let the Spirit take you higher today! The song of the Lord is the song Jesus sings over us. Will you sing a response today?
