Dynamic Leadership Series

Under Heaven’s Sphere”

Lesson Two: You can ask – we can help!

What does under heaven’s sphere mean as a leader?

First of all, leaders in the Christian sense must be under heaven’s sphere, the commonwealth of heaven’s blessing and favor as citizen’s of heaven.

Phl 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Outline of Biblical Usage

1) to be a disciple of one

a) to follow his precepts and instructions

2) to make a disciple

a) to teach, instruct

Disciple in New Testament times had both a spiritual and a natural meaning. The natural meaning in the secular society of the day meant to be an apprentice in some trade.

Jesus himself took the initiative as he called people to follow himself. Mark 1:16-20

Mar 1:16

Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Mar 1:17

And Jesus said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men." [fn]

Mar 1:18

And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Mar 1:19

And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets.

Mar 1:20

And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.

Jesus created a radical and unique pattern of leadership. Note that Jesus showed leadership by initiating the call. The Call of God, spells out the cost.

Later, Jesus prayer as a leader reveals that not all, but only certain disciples have been given to him.

Jhn 17:9

I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.

God’s initiative and the Call of Christ is upon all who are his disciples. Jesus demonstrates Commonwealth Leadership in John 15:16.

Jhn 15:16

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

Commonwealth citizens now his disciples have been personally chosen by Jesus. So now being chosen and selected by our Lord Jesus Christ, should create in us an attitude of motivation and leadership.

You personally have been chosen as a Commonwealth Leader under heaven’s sphere for seven things:

  1. To Go

  2. Make Disciples

  3. Baptizing Them

  4. In The Name

  5. Teaching Them

  6. I Have Commanded

  7. I AM With You

Mat 28:19

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Mat 28:20

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

  1. You are to lead

  2. You have been chosen

  3. You have been called

  4. You have been commissioned by Christ

Commonwealth Leaders are Christ’s Disciples, called to Disciple others.

What a responsibility we have in 2013.

Rom 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, [fn] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. [fn]

Rom 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, [fn] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. [fn]
