(above) The Peace Tower with the House of Parliament, Ottawa ON. The Peace Tower is a Canadian National Symbol. It is even featured on our 20 dollar bill (look to the right of the Queen's portrait, you will see the Center Block, and the base of this tower. You can even see the window arch on the tower where the Scripture is written.) On three sides of this tower scriptures from the Holy Bible are written in English.

CANADA MISSION

Our focus in this effort will be to urgently call the church local and national, to be a voice for our Lord Jesus Christ. There are several Canadian symbols we can use to reach out to Canadians. We must:

  • Pray

  • Print

  • Proclaim

  • Purpose

1Th 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

Print Hab 2:2 “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”

Isa 61:2 “To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;”

Act 26:16 “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;”

(above) On the front face of the Peace Tower, it quotes Psalm 72:1: “GIVE THE KING THY JUDGMENTS O GOD AND THY RIGHTEOUSNESS UNTO THE KINGS SON”. This is the window arch that can be seen on our 20-dollar bill. Below, a portion is enlarged and highlighted:

(above) In the Peace Tower, is a Memorial Chamber that honours the Canadian Soldiers who gave their lives for their country in the various wars. In the center of this room stands the “Altar of Sacrifice” as seen in this photo. This altar has a display case which houses a book of the names of every soldier who fought in WWI. It has two Christian inscriptions on it, one from Ephesians 6:13, and one from John Bunyan's Christian story,“Pilgrim's Progress”. In addition, Canada's original coat of arms is on the side of the altar. In Latin, the coat of arms declares “From Sea to Sea”. This is a reference to Psalm 72:8. Since that time, in 1994, the Government also added a verse from the book of Hebrews chapter 11 to the coat of arms.

(above) A detail of the stained-glass windows in the Peace Tower's Memorial chamber. Here you can see the scriptures on the windows, which are taken directly from Psalm 46:9 “He maketh wars to cease” and Psalm 94:15 “Judgement shall return unto righteousness.”

The present design of the arms of Canada was drawn by Mrs. Cathy Bursey-Sabourin, Fraser Herald at the Canadian Heraldic Authority, office of the Governor General of Canada, and faithfully depicts the arms described in the words of the Royal Proclamation dated November 21, 1921. The present design was approved in 1994 and shows a ribbon behind the shield with the motto of the Order of Canada, DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (They desire a better country) – (the Epistle to the Hebrews, chapter 11 verse 16).  This version replaces a former design drawn by Mr. Alan Beddoe.”
