Four Reasons Why?
Water Baptism
1. Identification
2. New Creation
3. Circumcision
4. New Covenant
We believe that this conversion experience should be followed with water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and the circumcision of the heart. The old man is put to death and the new creation man arises to walk in newness of life. Blood, water (baptism) , and Spirit constitute the three witnesses that initiate the New Covenant.
· Mark 16:16 (English Standard Version)
16(A)
Whoever
believes and is(B)
baptized(C)
will be saved, but(D)
whoever does not believe will be condemned.
· Acts 2:38 (English Standard Version)
38And
Peter said to them,(A)
"Repent and(B)
be baptized every one of you(C)
in the name of Jesus Christ(D)
for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive(E)
the gift of the Holy Spirit.
· Romans 2:28 (English Standard Version)
28For(A)
no one is a Jew(B)
who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and
physical.
· Romans 9:6-8 (English Standard Version)
6But
it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who
are descended from Israel belong
to Israel, 7and
not all are children of Abraham(A)
because they are his offspring, but(B)
"Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." 8This
means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the
children of God, but(C)
the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
· Colossians 2:11-12 (English Standard Version)
11In
him also(A)
you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by(B)
putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
12(C)
having been buried with him in baptism, in which(D)
you were also raised with him through faith in(E)
the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
· Philippians 3:3 (English Standard Version)
3For(A)
we are the circumcision,(B)
who worship(C)
by the Spirit of God[a]
and(D)
glory in Christ Jesus and put no
confidence in the flesh—
· Galatians 6:15-16 (English Standard Version)
15For(A)
neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but(B)
a new creation. 16And as for all who walk by this
rule,(C)
peace and mercy be upon them, and upon(D)
the Israel of
God.
· Romans 6:1-14 (English Standard Version)
Romans 6
Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1What shall we say then?(A) Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2By no means! How can(B) we who died to sin still live in it? 3Do you not know that all of us(C) who have been baptized(D) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were(E) buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as(F) Christ was raised from the dead by(G) the glory of the Father, we too might walk in(H) newness of life.
5For(I)
if we have been united with him in(J)
a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a
resurrection like his. 6We know that(K)
our old self[a](L)
was crucified with him in order that(M)
the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no
longer be enslaved to sin. 7For(N)
one who has died(O)
has been set free[b]
from sin. 8Now(P)
if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with
him. 9We know that(Q)
Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again;(R)
death no longer has dominion over him. 10For the death he
died he died to sin,(S)
once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11So
you also must consider yourselves(T)
dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Let
not(U)
sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its
passions. 13(V)
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for
unrighteousness, but(W)
present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from
death to life, and your members to God as instruments for
righteousness. 14For(X)
sin(Y)
will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under
grace.
· 1 John 5:8 (English Standard Version)
8the
Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three
agree.
Are
you in agreement with the…
1. Spirit
2. Water
3. Blood?
