RECEIVING THE EXTRAORDINARY BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AT PENTECOST
Understanding The Background
1. On this day get READY!
2. Today PENTECOST is here!
3. Those who are hungry and thirsty shall be filled!
4. We will lay hands on all!
5. Everyone who desires the Baptism Of The Holy Spirit!
GET READY!
·
Matthew
3:11
"I
baptize you with water for repentance. But after me
will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit
to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy
Spirit and with fire.
·
Mark
1:8
I
baptize you with water, but he will baptize you
with the Holy Spirit."
·
Luke
3:16
John
answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But
one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am
not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy
Spirit and with fire.
·
John
1:33
I
would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize
with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit
come down and remain is he who will baptize with the
Holy Spirit.'
·
Acts
1:5
For
John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be
baptized with the Holy Spirit."
·
Acts
10:47
Then
Peter said, "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized
with water? They have received the Holy Spirit
just as we have."
·
Acts
11:16
Then
I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with
water, but you will be baptized with the Holy
Spirit.'
1When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Personal Application
GET READY!
How does this apply to me?
11For the
LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows
favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from
those who walk uprightly.
1. Do not be afraid or skeptical if you have not received this experience.
2. This is the BIRTH-RIGHT of every believer.
3. You can receive the Holy Spirit Baptism at any time, at any place, and in any physical posture.
4. You will not receive a “false” experience.
11What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
14And this is
the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything
according to his will he hears us.
5. You do not have to be “holy” enough.
6. The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a GIFT
27John answered, "A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
38And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
5Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—
13Christ
redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for
it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"—
14so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might
come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit
through faith.
7. You can receive this experience through the LAYING ON OF HANDS.
18Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands,…
6And when
Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and
they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.
8. Some have received this in united devotion in the congregation.
31And when
they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was
shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued
to speak the word of God with boldness.
9. Others are filled after individual prayer or praise.
9And for
three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
10Now
there was a disciple at Damascus named
Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And
he said, "Here I am, Lord." 11And the Lord said
to him, "Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the
house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is
praying, 12and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias
come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight."
13But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many
about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at
Jerusalem. 14And here he has authority from the chief
priests to bind all who call on your name." 15But the
Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to
carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of
Israel. 16For I will show him how much he must suffer for
the sake of my name." 17So Ananias departed and
entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, "Brother
Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you
came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with
the Holy Spirit."
10. It may happen sovereignly and spontaneously.
44While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 "Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
11. A right ATTITUDE is the most important thing.
12. Simply YIELD to Jesus, the One who will baptize you.
13. Get READY!
READY
MEANS:
R
= Repent (turn away from any wrong attitudes or wrong traditional
teaching).
E
= Expect (know that God loves you and wants to fill you).
A
= Ask (with simple child-like faith to receive this gift).
D
= Drink (receive His presence).
Y
= Yield (your members, especially your tongue, to the Lord).
NOW
IS YOUR TIME IN GOD TO RESPOND!
Here
is the promise of Jesus!
6Blessed
are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they
shall be filled.
· SO - If you believe JESUS – come now and receive, be filled, baptized in the Holy Spirit, today!
