·    Respecting The Family Of God

Respect is the reason for the First Advent - that we might be redeemed and born of God as His Believing Children.

I am so glad that I’m a part of the family of God,

I’ve been washed in His Spirit, cleansed by His Blood, joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, for I’m part of the family, the family of God!

Jhn 1:9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.

Jhn 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

Jhn 1:11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

Jhn 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Jhn 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Jhn 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

·    Respect and relationship within the Church as a spiritual family

This is drawn from the Biblical revelation and knowledge which we have.  Ecclesiology is the study and understanding of the church.  Which is the Family Of God!

My purpose is not to give an historical or missiological analysis of the church, but to Biblically define its characteristics.

Today’s world is full of technology and management skills, as a result most churches have taken on either a commercial or industrial model to promote marketing and growth.

Personally I reject both of those views, in order to return to what I perceive to be the original purpose as revealed in scripture.

·    Understanding Respect In His Body

Matthew 16:18; English Standard Version

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock* I will build my church, and the gates of hell* shall not prevail against it.

·       Jesus called the church an assembly!

Not necessarily physically related people, as we note above in the Greek Lexicon – from:   this defines both the Corporate body and the Local gathering.

We already know that the corporate body of Christ on the earth, in one sense fulfills the universal corporate messianic mission of our head and Messiah – Our Lord Jesus Christ, now at the right hand of the Father.  The Apostle Peter calls this corporate body, a holy nation.

1 Peter 2:9; English Standard Version

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

·    The Prophet Jeremiah said how this holy nation would be formed:

Jeremiah 3:14; King James Version:

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

Nations are made up of God’s original plan, the family and Families form nations.

Rev 22:16

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."

May I respectfully propose to you the thought that, local churches are spiritual families in the holy nation of God.  May I also suggest that the family is always respected both natural and spiritual, it is part of our spiritual DNA.

This actually is why there is an attack upon the family today, both from a natural and spiritual point of view.  If we ever find out who we really are, and that together we form the holy nation, we will be fully revealing God’s purposes in the earth.

1.   Naturally I do not steal other children to build my family.  Why do we permit theft of children in the spiritual realm?

2.   Naturally we always respect the size of a family, be that large or small

Why do we permit disrespect of the family in the spiritual realm?

King James

Psa 68:6

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry [land].

Psa 107:41

Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh [him] families like a flock.

Ephesians 3:15; English Standard Version:

from whom every family* in heaven and on earth is named,

* Or fatherhood; the Greek word patria is closely related to the word for Father in verse 14

·      Respectfully our families need spiritual fathers and mothers to recover generational blessing.

Particularly this is true in both the natural and spiritual family because families build nations.

Numbers 2:2; English Standard Version

The people of Israel shall camp each by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers' houses. They shall camp facing the tent of meeting on every side.

·    Respect In The Double Enunciation

King James Version

2Ki 2:12

And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

2Ki 13:14

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

·     Respect Spiritual Fathers

1Cr 4:15

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

1Cr 4:17

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

Tts 1:4

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

Gen 18:19

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Mar 3:13

And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth [unto him] whom he would: and they came unto him.

Mar 3:14

And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

Mar 3:15

And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

Mal 4:5

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Mal 4:6

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Respectfully may these thoughts, stimulate better understanding and relationships between churches as spiritual families in the Holy Nation of God.
