13So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
The Hope Of Glory
Colossians 1:27, KJV To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory:
27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
The Greek word for "Christ” in this passage is:
· Christos, and it means, "anointed, anointing; the anointed One.”
· Its Hebrew equivalent is maw-shee-akh' and can also mean, "a consecrated person, such as a king or priest,” and is transliterated into the English, "Messiah.”
· Paul further adds in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that "Christ” is the "IMAGE of God”
4In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
26Then
God said, "Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over
the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the
livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that
creeps on the earth."
27So God
created man in his own image,
in
the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28And
God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and
multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the
fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every
living thing that moves on the earth."
49Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
· "Christ” is the ANOINTED ONE. Three persons who were anointed in the Old Testament:
1. The PROPHET, exemplified by Elisha.
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.
2. The PRIEST, exemplified by Aaron and his sons.
13and put on Aaron the holy garments. And you shall anoint him and consecrate him, that he may serve me as priest. 14You shall bring his sons also and put coats on them, 15 and anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may serve me as priests. And their anointing shall admit them to a perpetual priesthood throughout their generations."
3. The KING, exemplified by David.
13Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
4And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.
1. The PROPHET is God's mouthpiece. There is a powerful anointing within every Spirit-filled Christian to declare God unto others.
2. The PRIEST shows forth God's mercy. There is a compassionate anointing in every Spirit-filled believer to bring others to the Lord as we share the love of God and bear witness to our faith.
16"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
30The fruit
of the righteous is a tree of life,
and
whoever captures souls is wise.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
3. Where the word of a KING is, there is power and dominion.
4For the word of the king is supreme, and who may say to him, "What are you doing?”
· The Christ in every Spirit-filled child of God rules by the power of God's (Jesus') name!
Romans 14:17, KJV For THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy IN THE HOLY GHOST.
· The Kingdom is in the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is in you!
21nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or 'There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you."
· By the indwelling Spirit—"Christ in you”—
1. the prophetic anointing produces righteousness,
2. the priestly anointing affects peace, and
3. the kingly anointing brings forth joy.
· You received the Holy Ghost – Christ - when you believed!
13In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
· Have you received the Holy Ghost (Baptism) since you believed?
Acts 19:2 (King James Version)
2He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
· Have you been made aware of the greatness of "Christ in you”?
IN CONCLUSION:
Have you released the power of the prophet, the priest, and the king, the "Christ” who lives in your heart, the "anointed One” who waits to be manifested through faith-filled words that are destined to come out of your mouth?
6But the righteousness based on faith says, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7or "'Who will descend into the abyss?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
6And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
